Colleen, I second that. Obama would like acting in the same stead as Jeremiah Wright, if he does what Dipesh suggests. You do not damn or disown your country of origin when it is led by evil politics and vile politicians. You keep the audacity of hopes and dreams of independence alive.
Yes it would be and thanks for your feedback Colleen and Makokha. I am finding it increasingly difficult to hold on to any sense of patriotism to Kenya. I am finding it increasingly difficult to feel a part of a country that allows itself to be bled by bad humanbeings and those of us who could actually do something about it are for the most, lethargic. I know it is not very different elsewhere but this is my country. I have nowhere else to go and I am ashamed.
Yes yes Sukuma Kenya.....yes we should be ashamed and yes things are terrible and etc but we also need to look for the good things..the positives that we can draw strength from to change.
Otherwise...you seem to be telling us to tuck our tails between our legs in shame...despair & disown....and then? leave it to the fat cats?
I think it's easy to find and focus on the negatives the newspapers make their living that way!... the challenge lies in finding the positives and the courage and strength to build on them.
I am not a Kenyan, but I view Kenya as my second home and know its farthest reaches as perhaps only a field biologist can (at least geographically). You are missing the point here. What happened this morning was the result of an entire nation deciding it had had enough at all levels; this phenomenon seems to have included many of the religious bigots and selfish, world-blind ignorants who supported the last eight years of disgrace. Come on guys, you almost did it yourselves in January (I was there, by the way). The difference is that over here we may have accomplished a complete house cleaning - not just replaced the top; we think we have scrubbed out our legislature as well. We will see. Time will tell
After talking with many of you last January and February, I am convinced the while your coalescence into a voting block was a wonderful "first", you weren't all that happy with your two choices, anyway.. Am I right? More of the same? I refuse to believe that there are no Obamas among you. I know there are.

Obama could disown your government but not your people. Your people are fighting the good fight against villains.
